About Out West Natural Horsemanship

Out West Natural Horsemanship is located in Selwyn in the small village of West Melton. 

We are a brother-sister duo who share a deep love for horses and a passion for Natural Horsemanship! 

Over the years we have spent many hours with our horses learning their language and discovering their unique personalities. 

Our bond with horses transcends mere riding it's a heartfelt connection that enriches our lives every day. 

Our Philosophy is to embrace Natural Horsemanship as the cornerstone of our training. 

We believe that understanding and respecting a horse's instincts and communication style is essential. 

It's not just about riding - it's about building trust, empathy and mutual understanding. 

Our approach emphasises patience, kindness and cooperation ensuring both horse and human thrive.  

We are firm believers that riding should start from the ground up. 

Before we tack our horses up to ride we focus on groundwork - those gentle quiet moments spent leading, grooming and bonding lay the foundation of an incredible relationship. 

It's during the groundwork that we see the real magic happen!

We teach our students to read horses body language and from there a beautiful connection is formed. 

Horses are more than robots that we ride when we feel like it, horses are our companions and partners in adventure. 

We encourage everyone whether you're a seasoned rider or a beginner to have fun with horses ... After all life is too short not to enjoy every hoofbeat! 

We gently encourage our riders to form an extraordinary bond with horses - one that goes beyond riding. 

Our equine friends become companions, teachers and most importantly friends. 

Our mission is simple: to help our students achieve their dreams and goals with horses. Whether it's conquering a jump, learning mounted shooting off horses with nerf guns, forming a bond with these amazing creatures, learning their language or simply feeling at ease in the saddle, we are here to guide and support you.
